Bitcoin (BTC) is in a consolidation phase as both technical and macroeconomic factors weigh on market sentiment. On-chain data, ETP flows, and this week’s U.S. economic reports will play a key role in shaping the next move.
Macro Drivers
Profit-Taking
The Bitcoin Realized Profit index measures actual profit when investors sell BTC above their purchase price. In September, selling pressure has been lighter than in August, but has edged higher in recent days. On September 9, realized profits reached almost $788 million, suggesting that some investors still lack confidence in short-term upside and prefer to “take profit” rather than wait for a breakout.

ETF Flows
Bitcoin ETF flows were highly volatile last week, swinging from inflows to outflows and back to inflows again. This shows that institutional sentiment remains unsettled, reacting quickly to macro data (CPI, jobs). Despite a large outflow on September 4, total weekly flows were still positive, a constructive sign for the medium term, though short-term moves remain sensitive to news.

US Data Ahead
Crypto markets will closely watch U.S. data due on September 11:
- CPI (YoY, Aug): 2.9%, above forecast 2.7% → inflation pressure remains.
- Core CPI (MoM, Aug): 0.3%, in line with forecast → core inflation not cooling.
- CPI (MoM, Aug): 0.3%, above forecast 0.2%.
- Initial Jobless Claims: 234K, below forecast 237K → labor market still strong.
- 30-Year Bond Auction: yield at 4.813%.
These figures are likely to keep the Fed cautious, with high rates continuing to pressure risk assets, including Bitcoin.
Technical Views
Last week, BTC held the 61.8% Fibonacci support at around $108k and bounced slightly, and is now trading near the 50% Fibonacci level, around $111k.
Historically, in bull trends, BTC usually takes 189–245 days to break past its previous all-time high. If this pattern repeats, BTC may need at least 131 more days to climb above the last ATH at $124,532. In the short term, the price is likely to stay range-bound between $108k – $113k.

BTC remains above the 200 SMA, confirming that the long-term uptrend is intact. RSI is neutral.
- A break above $113k could open the way toward $124k.
- A break below $108k could trigger a deeper move toward $99k.

The liquidation heatmap shows strong liquidity clusters at $113 - $115k (bright yellow bands), where leveraged positions are concentrated. This area is likely to be tested, with risk of sharp volatility.

The cluster/footprint chart reinforces this view:
- $115–$124k: heavy sell imbalances → strong resistance.
- $99–$104k: strong buy imbalances → key support.
Meanwhile, cumulative delta keeps trending lower while price inches up, showing weak aggressive buying. This suggests the price may reverse after testing liquidity around $113k.

Key Points for Traders
- Short-term traders: Wait for clear confirmation. The $108k–$113k range may trap traders through liquidity sweeps.
- Long-term investors: The uptrend remains valid above the 200 SMA. But patience is required, as BTC may require at least 131 more days before having a real chance to break its all-time high.
